Maison Perrier-Jouët, renowned for its exquisite champagnes and dedication to art and nature, is embarking on a groundbreaking collaboration with the acclaimed design studio Formafantasma. This partnership is set to unveil an innovative installation aimed at increasing biodiversity within the coveted Champagne parcel, reflecting the House’s deep commitment to sustainability.
Maison Perrier-Jouët x Formafantasma
Founded in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, Maison Perrier-Jouët has long been inspired by nature and art. This legacy continues with the collaboration with Formafantasma, a studio known for its holistic and conceptual approach to design. Together, they are creating an interactive architectural work for both humans and wildlife, to be revealed this fall. This project is a grand reinterpretation of Art Nouveau’s reverence for nature, integrating biodiversity into the heart of champagne production.
Maison Perrier-Jouët has a storied history of blending nature with viticulture. The House’s founders were passionate botanists and horticulturalists, and this passion has influenced their progressive vineyard management practices. Today, the House’s dedication to the environment is evident in their experimental regenerative viticulture program. This initiative, which now covers over 40% of their vineyard, aims to enrich biodiversity and improve the land’s health by treating the ecosystem of the vineyard as a whole.
The collaboration with Formafantasma is a natural extension of this commitment. Over the past two years, the design studio has been working with scientists and experts to develop a multidisciplinary project focused on biodiversity. This project will be situated in Maison Perrier-Jouët’s Agusons vineyard in Ambonnay and will be inaugurated in September 2024. It will feature innovative practices such as floral cover crops, vitiforestry, ecological corridors, and bioalternative fertilizers, all aimed at enhancing the ecological interconnectedness of the region.
The Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët
In addition to the installation, Formafantasma will present a new edition of The Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët. This unique experience will celebrate the excellence of Perrier-Jouët cuvées paired with gastronomy, while fostering discussions on species interconnectivity. The first Banquet of Nature by Perrier-Jouët will take place this fall in the Champagne region and will also be featured at the Design Miami art fair in December 2024.
