One of the wine industry’s most hotly anticipated moments in the calendar has arrived… The annual release of The World’s 50 Best Vineyards.
A shortlist of destinations across the globe delivering exceptional experiences in all things wine tourism, every year we rush to see whose hospitality has come out on top.
It’s an achievement to even be placed in the top 100, so to be in the top 50 of the world’s best vineyards recognises the considered commitment that each destination gives to curating the ultimate experience for visitors.
From unique tours and immersive tasting experiences to fine dining restaurants set in stunning destinations, acknowledging the achievements of each vineyard provides a platform to celebrate the wine tourism industry and showcase the opportunities within wine travel across every region.
Who votes for the world’s best vineyards?
A global Academy of 720 industry professionals vote for the shortlist. These voters are handpicked and include sommeliers, travel and wine tourism specialists, wine trade professionals and journalists.
For ease, the world is divided into 20 regions, with 36 voters in each. Every year the Academy Chair representing the region will change up at least 25% of the pool of voters to keep the shortlist fresh and representative.
Each expert votes for 7 vineyards of their choice, with no criteria except the vineyard must be open to the public.
