Using centuries-old techniques and the Five Rare Crafts—homegrown barley, malting floor, copper stills, cooperage, and malt master—The Balvenie is able to maintain a distinctive image among malt whisky brands. By growing their own barley and operating one of only a handful of malting floors left in Scotland, their whisky is handmade and carefully monitored to ensure quality. The Balvenie maintains a staff of seasoned whisky veterans and up and coming apprentices that hold superior craftsmanship at their core. Their favorite technique, cask finishing, allows the whisky to consecutively mature in two separate casks, giving the final bottled product exceptional depth.
The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 is rich with dried fruits, sherbet spice, toasted almonds, and cinnamon complimented with layers of toffee, vanilla, and oak.
