THE WINES

PUNSET PIEMONTE DOC BIANCO Neh! 2014

Punset in Piedmont, was the project of the winemaker Marina Macarino, a determined woman who had the goal to make Punset the first organic winery in Barbaresco.

The white is a blend of local white grapes (Arnies, Favorita, Cortese) with a little Chardonnay in the mix.

Tasting notes: Fruity on the nose with aromas of flowers, apple, banana and pear. The fruity sensation is enhanced in the mouth and has a delicious honey finish. Good structure and very good balance. A white wine perfect for drinking on its own or with food.

PUNSET  Langhe DOC Rosso Neh! 2013

A red blend on typical varieties from the Langhe: Dolcetto (50%), Barbera (30%) and Nebbiolo (20%). “Né’?” is probably the most popular piemontese slang word and it is known everywhere. It is used to give a positive emphasis to a conversation and it can also be find, with the same meaning, in other languages.

Tasting notes: Deep fruity aromas with red summer fruits, such as black cherry, strawberries and raspberries. The colour is dark ruby and the wine shows good structure, acidity and medium body. A food friendly wine for any occasion!

LUNA DEL ROSPO Piemonte DOC BARBERA 2013

La Luna del Rospo in Piedmont spans almost 8 hectares of vineyards, where you can taste not only their biodynamic wines but also organic food.

Tasting notes: Intense ruby red colour with purple reflections, it has a fruity nose with pleasant hints of red berry. The aroma is unmistakable of Barbera, taking you on a journey of its provenance. It’s refreshing, pleasant and easy to drink, dry and savoury to the palate, medium bodied with good persistence. A wine with a discrete personality! Unmistakable Italian red that goes well with pasta or pizza dishes.

LOACKER  Falco Rosso Igt Toscana 2014

Loacker Corte Pavone in Tuscany, the sister winery of the South Tyrol one, set up by Rainer Loacker a nature lover and former pioneer in the homeopathic drugs industry who brought these principles to winemaking 27 years ago.

A blend of Sangiovese (81%), Merlot (16%)  and Cabernet Sauvignon (3%). The fermentation process takes places spontaneously only with natural yeasts.

Tasting notes:  Bright ruby red in colour. An inviting nose with fresh fruits on the nose – black cherry and red forest fruits. Charming and elegant on the palate with soft tannins and an intense finish. Another every day wine with potential to age.

ANTICA ENOTRIA Red IGT Puglia 2013

Antica Enotria in Puglia, a Masseria, dating back to the 1700’s, located near the seaside. Alongside wine tours, they run unique ‘canning courses’ for those that want to learn how to preserve fresh vegetables.

An unusual organic wine from Puglia, made from Montepulciano and Sangiovese (a grape more typical to Tuscany). The vines are trained using the “Pugliese trellis” method implementing the biological farming system

Tasting notes: Deep ruby red colour with violet nuances. On the nose it has a characteristic bouquet of cherries and forest berries. On the palate the wine is soft, dry, with nice tannins and a brilliant freshness.

TENUTA LA FAVOLA  Koros Red Noto DOC 2012

Tenuta la Favola in Sicily, located near the beautiful beaches of southeast Sicily, the farm has been in the family for generations. Since 2014 it has been a place to stay and relax with apartments inside the old courtyard where you can cook up a meal with the family.

The Koros Red is a blend of Nero d’Avola (65%) and Syrah (35%).

Tasting notes: Spicy wine with characteristic fragrances of the terroir and a scent of fresh grass. Full bodied, herbal, with a good acidity and smooth tannins.
