Fun with Wine

Where To Go And What To Do In Sonoma

15 Feb, 2016

Planning a visit to wine country is on every wine lover’s bucket list, but other than visiting winery after winery how do you know what to do? It’s always good to scope out the best coffee shop and the best lunch spot before your plane touches down so you don’t have to spend a lot of time searching during your vacation.

For the best coffee in Sonoma County, check out Flying Goat coffee. A local favorite, this shop offers plenty of seasonal and organic options for the coffee connoisseur. Wine is best served with food, and cheese makes the perfect pairing. The Vella Cheese Company has been making natural cheese in Sonoma County for 85 years and was the first business in the county to go completely solar-powered.  The Big Bottom Market is a great place to have brunch complete with Mimosas and also pick up speciality food items to take home with you.

Of course a trip to California wouldn’t be complete without spending some time enjoying nature. Goat Rock Beach is a great place to go whale spotting, while a little further south at Doran Beach you can try your hand at surfing.  If you want to see giant redwoods, stop by Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve where the tallest tree is 310 feet and the oldest tree is 1400 years.

History buffs can check out the Jack London State Historic Park where the White Fang author’s home ruins are still visible. The Luther Burbank Home is also a significant site where the famous horticulturalist developed hundreds of hybridized plant species.

There’s more to do in Wine Country than tour wineries, though certainly that should be the centerpiece of your trip. Learn more about where to go and what to do from this infographic and then start planning your getaway!
