Top 6 English weekend spots for wine lovers

20 Mar, 2018

It’s English Tourism Week this week, and as there’s nothing we like more than a glass of English wine in a sunny vineyard (or just a vineyard, this is England after all…), we thought we’d take the opportunity to celebrate some of our favourite UK spots. If you’re a wine lover looking for a weekend escape, here’s everything you need to plan the perfect trip…

The Black Swan

Somewhere in the heart of the rugged countryside of the North York Moors, in a little town called Oldstead, lies ‘The Best Restaurant in the World’. The Black Swan, which looks from the outside like an unassuming country pub, was named ‘Best Fine Dining Restaurant’ by a large online travel site in 2017, and it’s certainly lived up to the hype. Book in advance to snag a table at this coveted spot, and enjoy a fine dining experience described as ‘traditional Yorkshire with a swirling mix of creativity and eccentricity’.

Read about Winerist’s recent visit to the Black Swan, here, or visit the Black Swan’s website for more information.

Boasting a romantic Lake Cabin, wellness retreats and beautifully furnished ‘Forest hideaway suites’, the Lime Wood Hotel and Spa, in scenic Hampshire, is the ideal place for a luxury escape. The hotel restaurant serves wonderful food, and the famous wine cellar is a haven for wine buffs! Lime Wood’s extensive Wine List was awarded the Taittinger Wine List of the Year for 2015, and scooped the award for the Most Innovative and Exciting Wine List at the Conde Nast Johansens Awards 2016 and 2017!
