One of Paarl’s most famous wineries, visitors to Nederburg can try the selection of Foundation, Winemaster’s Reserve, Manor House and Ingenuity wines. Nederburg also does speciality wine pairings, platters and picnics.

Fairview Wine & Cheese is ideal for small groups looking for tutored tastings and pairings of the finest Fairview wines and award-winning cheeses.

Mellasat Vineyards is the home of the white Pinotage. The vineyards are dramatically positioned under the Klein Drakenstein Mountains with a tasting cellar and unique ‘Cemetery of Forgotten Wines’ in their underground cellar.

Babylonstoren has a state-of-the-art winery with wines showcasing the soils and climate of where the grapes are grown. The estate produces 13 different grape varieties and elegant whites and reds that are balanced and as natural as possible.

Avondale offers tasting of 7 hand-crafted, classic wines – known as Avondale’s Magnificent Collection. The Tasting Gallery is elegant and comfortable, where guests can get to know their organic wines.

Established in 1691, Laborie has been producing fine wines for over 300 years, making it one of the oldest farms in South Africa. Visitors can lounge in one of three restaurants or stay overnight in the guesthouse.

Ridgeback is a relatively new wine producing farm with a wine cellar, wine tasting centre and restaurant. The farm is named after the farm dog, Rudolph the ridgeback. The winery has a comprehensive portfolio of reds and whites, as well as a very special Viognier.

Landskroon is situated along the south western slopes of Paarl Mountain. The winery offers a wide variety of quality red and white wines at affordable prices. Landskroon’s Port is one of the leading port wines in South Africa.

Named as one of the top 100 wine producers in the world by the World Association of Wine & Spirits Writers, Boland Cellars are arguably one of the best wineries in Paarl. They describe their wines as ‘regional expressions of wine with fundamental quality’.
Located on the banks of the Berg River, Tempel Wines is a historic wine farm with Cape Dutch cottages dating back to 1784. Owners Alf and Marie offer exclusive accommodation in a pastoral setting with passionately handcrafted wines.

Under Oaks is a family-owned wine estate producing fine boutique wines. Guests can enjoy the homely tasting room and historic wine cellar, renovated in 2014.

Vondeling, meaning ‘foundling’ is a three-centuries-old winemaking estate with an environmentally sensitive approach to farming. Vondeling’s flagship wines, Vondeling Babiana and Vondeling Erica, are named after rare species of fynbos that are endemic to the Paardeberg mountain, the home of Vondeling wines.

Amateurs and true wine connoisseurs will be able to appreciate Val de Vie’s fine wines. Wine making is a natural process at Val de Vie with a philosophy of minimal interference. The estate has replanted all its vineyards (15 different Rhône varietals) and revamped the 1825 winery. These include Clairette Blanche, Grenache blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Ugni blanc and reds such as Petite Sirah, Cinsaut, Carignan, Grenache noir, Mourvedre and Syrah or Shiraz.
