Wines of Argentina announced its winners for the Argentina Wine Awards 2014! The event is organised every year and it brings together all of the leading and emerging wines and producers from the country.
After weeks of anticipation, the results of the eighth edition of the prestigious Argentina Wine Awards (AWA) were announced on Friday the 21st February.
The award ceremony held at the Bodega Escorihuela Gascón, in Argentina’s darling wine region of Mendoza, was attended by over 250 honorary guests and wine community members including winery owners, winemakers, wine industry executives, members of the judging panel and journalists.
To select this year’s winners, over 650 wine were sampled from 150 wineries. This year’s expert panel of 12 international and 6 Argentine judges awarded for 20 categories, each divided into 5 price ranges. A total of 4 Regional Trophies, 12 Trophies, 58 gold medals, 256 silver medals and 276 bronze medals were awarded at the competition. For the first time in the history of the competition, a special Trophy was awarded for each of Argentina’s main wine-producing regions of the North, Mendoza, San Juan and Patagonia.
“The AWA 2014 winners, a token of the best of Argentine wine, will be representing us in the various actions that will be carried out by Wines of Argentina throughout the year around the world. This eighth edition has been particularly important due to the presence of highly regarded judges, the quality of the participating wines and the feedback given during the seminar,” said Alberto Arizu, President of Wines of Argentina.
