Trulli Il Castagno Winery and Farmhouse

Best wineries in Puglia

Discover Trulli il Castagno, an authentic winery in the heart of Puglia in the Itria Valley between the villages of Alberobello, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Ostuni and Monopoli.

For generations the Spalluto family has been cultivating the vine with passion, passing on the traditions of the farmers of the Itria Valley, the valley of the trulli. The poor wines produced in the past, by the skilled hands of the farmers, have now become precious wines, concentrated in history and tradition.

Today this little corner of Puglia, which was constructed at the beginning of the 1800s, is a place where guests can find true peace and tranquillity. The trulli were reconstructed mainly thanks to the work and the experience of some master trulli builders and the dedication of the family.

The company is composed of a few hectares of vineyards taken care of by the hands of father Pietro, who knows every single vine and succeeds in ensuring each vine the attention it deserves.

The winery offers a number of services that will allow you to discover and love authentic Puglia, its unique tastes, its nature and  breathtaking scenery.

For those wanting to discover the wines and the family’s passion for viticulture, wine and oil tastings and visits to the vineyard can be organised. For those who love to cook and those who love to eat, spend an afternoon to learn about the home cooked cuisine, a great way of understanding how the traditional dishes of Puglia were born.

Tenuta Corallo Winery

Best wineries in Puglia

Discover Tenuta Corallo Winery, the most charming Italian South-Eastern winery on the Adriatic Sea.The winery project of Tenuta Corallo was born from a union of passions. The love for the sea and the passion for the world of wine in 2010 led to Enzo and Gabriella Marti, entrepreneurs for over 25 years in the tourism sector of Salento, to detect an estate of nearly 13 hectares near the “Baia dei Turchi” (Bay of Turks), along the Adriatic coast which unites the Alimini Lakes to Otranto and move there.

In 2014, they decided to plant a vineyard, cultivated in organic farming, separated from the sea by a thin line of Mediterranean vegetation (only 30 metres!), useful especially in winter when it acts as a natural barrier against the cold mistral wind blowing from the Otranto Channel. The influences of the sea breezes give the wines special flavours and a unique freshness.Primitivo, Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera, Aleatico and Fiano are the typical vines of the Salento area that have been planted. The brand new two-story cellar houses a small showroom and a laboratory, as well as a room of about 180 square metres where steel refrigerated tanks that serve to refine the wines are located. On the outside terrace there is a 100 quintal rotary tank used for the fermentation of the reds. In the basement there is a barrel room of about 100 square meters for the refinement of wine in the wood. This environment is also kept at adequate temperature and humidity.

Masseria Amastuola Winery

Best wineries in Puglia

Discover Masseria Amastuola Wines and Resort located in Crispiano, on a hill at 210 meters above sea level where the Mediterranean climate encourages a good organic farming.

The area surrounding the vineyard, first abandoned, was recovered in 2006 by an impressive project by the famous landscape designer Fernando Caruncho creating a real “garden vineyard”. The rows are drawn in accented and parallel waves that extend and swing for three kilometers, spaced with 24 islands of old olive trees.

“The wave of change” is the metaphor that captures the inspired action of Montanaro family, owner of the estate, which always acts with the courage between the respect for traditions and constant openness to the changes of the times.

In 2017, by the restoration of the ancient Masseria Amastuola, a Wine Resort was born with two tasting rooms where you can taste the Amastuola organic wines, a barrel cellar, a library and a restaurant that surprises with a typical Apulian gastronomy. From the terraces of the farm you have a breathtaking view of the Ionian Sea and the Amastuola vineyard garden.

Masseria Amastuola is the ideal place for wine lovers and wine enthusiasts. The huge space in the Masseria lets you live a unique experience, a sensorial wine tour discovering the excellence of Apuglian wine. The idea behind the wine resort is to promote experiences for all wine enthusiasts: from the wine lover, to the novice on their first experience with wine, from the international buyer to the representatives of the national wine scene.

The masseria also offers hospitality in the 18 rooms located on the first floor of the main body of the structure and inside the old stable. Made in the utmost respect for the original architecture and using local crafts and materials, the rooms are projected and designed to provide exceptional comfort. Each room has a different view, some of them overlook the garden vineyard, others the central courtyard and others the garden.

Staying at Amastuola can be even more exciting if you decide to take part in one of the many activities that are offered, such as the possibility of bike riding through the vineyard, relaxing while horse riding, tasting the Amastuola wines, becoming chefs in a cooking class and having fun with fishing or on one of the many other excursions available.

During the tasting experiences, Amastuola organic wines will be presented by an experienced partner who will explain the different stages of production: from the importance of the terroir to the techniques used in the vineyard, from the harvesting of the grapes to ageing in barrels, ending with bottling.

Taste the Masseria’s wines while enjoying one of the several guided tasting tours offering different possibilities in which wine is always the protagonist. This may be enhanced by a selection of typical local products, enriching the experience with the pleasure of food expertly chosen to compliment the wine on offer.
